Wings of Fortune: Godrej’s ₹100 Crore Bet on India’s Aerospace Future

One year after Operation Sindoor, which reportedly highlighted India’s air superiority through the neutralisation of key Pakistan Air Force bases, India’s aerospace sector is witnessing renewed momentum, according to recent industry developments.

Against this backdrop, the aerospace business of Godrej Enterprises Group has announced plans to invest nearly ₹100 crore over the next three years to accelerate innovation-led growth in the sector.

The company said the planned investment will focus on design, research and development, new product innovation and advanced digital manufacturing technologies. The initiative is intended to strengthen the company’s role in India’s aerospace and propulsion ecosystem while supporting the country’s broader push towards indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

Maneck Behramkamdin said sustained investments in innovation, advanced manufacturing and talent development would help position the company to contribute to India’s aero-engine ambitions and strengthen its presence in the global aerospace supply chain. He added that the group remains committed to the long-term development of indigenous aerospace systems.

Godrej Enterprises Group is currently collaborating with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment on jet engine development and has manufacturing partnerships with major global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including Boeing, Safran Aircraft Engines, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and RTX Corporation.

As part of its expansion strategy, the group is also developing a new 100-acre manufacturing facility in Khalapur comprising two production plants. The facility is expected to become a major capacity expansion hub for advanced aerospace and propulsion programmes serving both domestic and international markets.

The company noted that Maharashtra offers strong infrastructure, port connectivity, engineering talent and an expanding manufacturing ecosystem, positioning the state as a potential global hub for aerospace supply chains.

According to the group, its aerospace division recorded nearly 25% year-on-year growth, while exports increased by more than 30%, reflecting rising demand across both domestic and global markets.
